Heritage Sites

Tblisi is an old city and we will explore the old quarter at your leisure on our first evening.

We will be visiting Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia and an important religious centre as well as a museum city. Along the way we will make a short stop to explore Jvari Monastery, a famous church located on a hill overlooking the meeting of two rivers.

On your journey in Georgia you will visit Vardzia cave city. This city was erected in the 12th – 13th centuries and it is a multi-storied complex with streets, tunnels and stairs leading to monasteries, temples, fortresses, baths, libraries dwelling houses and so forth.

You will also visit one of the most breath taking sites when you are driven up to the Gargeti Trinity Church which sits on a hill some 2,170 metres above sea level and resides under the gaze of Georgia’s third highest mountain, Mt Kazbegi.

Accomodation

Just to name a few examples, you will stay and dine in some very unique places while in Georgia. The Stamba Hotel for example is a hotel created from a pre-existing publishing house and is located within strolling distance to many fine museums, parks and Georgian sites.

The Rooms Hotel in Kazbegi looks directly at Mt Kazbegi which provides a wondrous backdrop to an evening glass of wine.

Our farewell dinner is at Café Littera which resides in the historical building of the House of Writers.
